Frequently asked
What is an M4R file? +
M4R is the iPhone ringtone format. It's an AAC audio track inside an MP4 container with a .m4r extension, which is exactly what this tool writes.
How do I install the M4R on my iPhone? +
Connect the iPhone to your computer and open Finder (macOS Catalina or later) or iTunes (Windows or older macOS). Drag the .m4r file onto the device, or into the Tones section, then sync. The ringtone shows up under Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringtone on the phone.
My clip is longer than 30 seconds. What do I do? +
iPhone ringtones cap out at about 30 seconds. If your audio runs longer, trim it first (with our Trim Video tool, say, or trim the source before you export AAC), then bring the shorter clip here.
