Frequently asked

What codec is inside the OGG file? +

Opus. It's a modern open codec that sounds great at low bitrates, usually smaller than MP3 for the same perceived quality.

Is my MP4 uploaded anywhere? +

No. The video is decoded in your browser with WebCodecs, and only the audio gets encoded to Opus locally. Nothing is ever uploaded.

Will I lose quality? +

Opus is lossy, so re-encoding adds a small loss you usually can't hear. At its default bitrate it stays very close to the source.
