Is my MOV video uploaded to a server? +
No. The video is decoded in your browser with WebCodecs and only the audio is re-encoded to MP3 locally. Nothing is ever uploaded.
What happens to the video track? +
It gets dropped. Only the audio comes out, written as a standalone MP3 file.
Why does extraction take a few seconds? +
Browsers have no built-in MP3 encoder, so the audio is decoded and re-encoded with a LAME-based encoder. Longer videos take a bit more time.
