Frequently asked
Does my WEBM get uploaded to a server? +
No. The conversion runs in your browser with WebCodecs, so your video never leaves your device.
Will the MOV play in QuickTime and Final Cut Pro? +
Yes. WEBM uses VP9 or VP8 video, which Apple apps don't accept. The video gets transcoded to H.264 and the audio to AAC inside a QuickTime MOV container, which QuickTime, Final Cut Pro and iMovie open natively.
Why does a large WEBM take a while? +
Converting means decoding and re-encoding every frame to H.264. Larger or longer clips have more frames, so they take a bit longer.
